Mike Stinnett sits at a table painting a landscape featuring Cathedral Rock using acrylic paints.

Mike Stinnett first began his art career by creating highly detailed paintings in acrylic and oil paint.

Mike Stinnett's painting features a bull and cow elk bedded down beneath a juniper tree on a hilltop in wintertime. A large mountain is visible in the foggy background.

His love for God's creation is clearly displayed in his wildlife and landscape artwork.

As a boy, Mike spent a lot of time hiking in the back country of Eastern Oregon with his dog, Pal. He always remembered to bring a stick along with him to tap the bushes in case there were rattlesnakes. Later in life, this sparked the idea of carving a rattlesnake on a walking stick.

He’s now carved over a hundred and twenty walking sticks featuring various wildlife subjects including different species of snakes, birds, and lizards. For those who want to take up carving rattlesnake walking sticks themselves, he’s created an instructional book and video tutorial. He also shares the process of his art pieces along with glimpses of his lifestyle through the videos on his YouTube channel, Stinnett Sticks.
